“KNOW THE SCORE” PUBLIC SERVICE CAMPAIGN
PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY – August 19, 2011 -- Fresh from a successful Broadway run in the title role of Lombardi, actor Dan Lauria has partnered with the Leslie Munzer Neurological Institute for a series of TV, radio and print public service ads. The ads urge viewers, listeners and readers to “Know the Score” about preventing brain and spinal cord injuries, and discuss the warning signs of neurological disorders. Based in Port Jefferson Station, New York, the Institute is a not-for-profit foundation that provides support and educational programs, funds research on brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and is currently conducting an epilepsy study. March is Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness Month Throughout The United States

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY, March 24, 2009 - - In order to fully educate children, parents and other members of the public on how to prevent concussions and severe brain injuries resulting from a variety of sports activities, the not-for-profit Leslie Munzer Neurological Institute of Long Island is initiating a free interactive lecture program this month. The talks will be available to schools, colleges, libraries, community groups and other organizations across Long Island 12 months a year.
The kick-off of the initiative coincides with March being National Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness Month, as well as with the heartbreaking death last week of actress Natasha Richardson due to a traumatic brain injury suffered during a skiing accident.
The program features renowned Long Island neurosurgeons and trauma specialists as guest speakers, including Dr. Donald S. Krieff, a board certified neurosurgeon who treats both adult and pediatric patients; Dr. Mihai D. Dimancescu, a board-certified neurosurgeon who possesses more than 30 years of experience performing brain and spine surgery; and Dr. Lee Eric Tessler, a neurosurgeon who currently serves as the chief of neurotrauma at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola.
